Nova - Science Programing   http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/  Site Reviews(0)
Seen in more than 100 countries, NOVA is the most watched science television series in the world and the most watched documentary series on PBS. It is also one of television's most acclaimed series, having won every major television award, most of them many times over. Here at NOVA, we believe that science is neither sacred lore nor secret ritual, but rather curious people exploring interesting questions. NOVA's approach, developed over more than a quarter century, is to select a topic of great interest to viewers and then produce a film that is as entertaining as it is informative, using the tools of good pacing, clear writing, and crisp editing. Equally important, NOVA shows the human story behind the science story. Whether exploring a galaxy or an atom, the series delves into the personalities responsible for the discoveries, and the social consequences of events in the lab.

Explore the sea of names, letter by letter...watch trends rise and fall, and dive in deeper to see your favorite name's place in the historical tides. The Baby Name Wizard's NameVoyager is an interactive portrait of America's name choices. Start with a "sea" of nearly 5000 names. Type a letter, and you'll zoom in to focus on how that initial has been used over the past century. Then type a few more letters, or a name. Each stripe is a timeline of one name, its width reflecting the name's changing popularity. If a name intrigues you, click on its stripe for a closer look. NameVoyager is an interactive tool that shows particular name rankings based on popularity and year. If you aren't expecting a child, you can look up your own name. You can see how it's risen and fallen in rank over the past century. Plus you can read excerpts from the author's book to find out more on names. Or read Name News, her blog. It's filled with smart observations-ľall about names!
